Glossary of terms

EMG

EMG, short for electromyography, is a test that helps physicians identify neuromuscular conditions by studying the nerves, muscles or their connections—the neuromuscular junctions. In some cases, thorough, detailed EMG testing and the skillful evaluation and analysis of the test results are the only path to diagnosis and treatment. Some patients report some slight stinging, but EMG is non-invasive and is not regarded as a painful procedure.
